Our Guide to a Successful Wedding Fair!

Facing the wedding fair frenzy? We understand it can get a little hectic, especially for those just beginning their wedding planning journey. So here’s some top tips to help you navigate it all!

Before You Begin.

The key to any successful wedding fair? Preparation.

Picture this: a maze of stalls with swarms of people flitting from stand to stand, exhibitors beckoning you to explore their offerings, and you with one singular mission - to make the most out of your day.

That’s where preparation comes in.

Before even stepping foot into the fair, it’s good to have a rough idea of what you want to achieve.

So, here are a couple of tips for the pre-fair stage:

1) Define your goals.

Ask yourself what you want to achieve. Whether it’s just to explore what’s out there or whether it’s to lock down a band for the evening, having a rough idea will help manage your expectations and give you a clear aim for the day.

2) Check out the list of suppliers.

The fair will provide a full list of the exhibitors in attendance. Go through the list, visit their websites, and make a list of those you’re interested in.

Suddenly, you’ll find that that overwhelming number of stalls to look at shrivels down into something much more manageable.

This simple step will make navigating the stalls more manageable.

3) Comfort is key.

The day can be long and requires a lot of walking! So, leave the stilettos at home and opt for comfy shoes. Oh, and bring a sturdy tote bag to carry any leaflets and business cards you might grab on your way.

What to Do on the Day.

You’ve arrived at the fair, sporting your best trainers and trusty tote. Now, your quest can begin.

1) Take Your Time.

It’s easy to become overwhelmed. So don’t rush, and take your time! If a stall is too busy, take a step back and return later. If you need a break, go for it!

Exhibitors will still be there when you return, and sometimes taking a breather can be the most productive thing to do!

2) Dealing with Business Cards.

Try to be selective when collecting business cards. You don’t want to be left with a pile of cards from vendors you don’t really remember.

Or, even better, take photos of the cards from the vendors you liked the best! It’s a practical way to remember without accumulating a pile of cards you barely recall. (It also saves you from losing them!)

The Day is Over, but Your Work Isn’t Complete.

You arrive home, thoroughly exhausted (us too), and dump your tote bag of business cards by your front door. Job complete: mission accomplished.

Except, not really…

Now, it’s time to get in contact with the suppliers you liked.

While you can afford to wait a day or two, remember that after the wedding fair, suppliers face a surge of inquiries.

Don’t risk losing your dream supplier because you waited too long. Get in touch, mention your meeting at the fair, and secure your date before it slips away.

Avoid the tragedy - act promptly and make your wedding fair experience truly worthwhile!

And there you have it.
